A sweeping family saga set in Texas and the Philippines, following two sisters unearthing their mother's long-buried secrets.
Hannah and Mari Maldonado were once as close as sisters could be. But in the years since the death of their mother, Corazon, they have drifted apart—Mari roams around the world, chasing romance, while Hannah clings to her struggling marriage, her distant father, and her changed Texas hometown.
But then a mysterious letter arrives from the De la Cruzes, the estranged family Corazon left behind when she immigrated from the Philippines decades before. Now, Mari and Hannah must travel to the island of Mindoro, to reunite with their relatives—and each other—and decide the fate of their threatened ancestral land. Uncovering the secrets Corazon kept may be the key.
A novel about the choices we make, the distance caused by migration, and the lifelong call of home.
